If you have started calling wedding photographers in Chandigarh, you have probably noticed something frustrating: almost nobody tells you what it costs. You fill a form, you wait, and then a number arrives with no explanation of why it is that number.
We have photographed over 500 weddings since 2014, and we think you deserve a straight answer before you spend an hour on a call. So here it is — what wedding photography actually costs in Chandigarh, what changes the price, and how to tell whether a quote is fair.
The short answer
In Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, wedding photography in 2026 generally falls into three bands:
- ₹40,000 – ₹80,000 — a small team, one or two days, basic photo delivery. Usually newer studios or solo photographers building a portfolio.
- ₹1,00,000 – ₹2,50,000 — established studios. A proper team, photo and film coverage, edited albums, cinematic delivery. This is where most couples who care about their photographs end up.
- ₹3,00,000 and above — larger productions. Multi-day destination weddings, bigger crews, drone and FPV, same-day edits, premium albums.
For reference, our own wedding packages start at ₹1,00,000 for a single day and ₹2,00,000 for two days, with mehendi, haldi and sangeet coverage included. Pre-wedding photography starts at ₹35,000, and a pre-wedding film at ₹70,000.
What actually changes the price
1. Number of days
This is the biggest factor. A Punjabi wedding is rarely one event — there is a roka, a mehendi, a haldi, a sangeet, the wedding day itself, and often a reception. Each day needs a full team, a full day of shooting, and days of editing afterwards. A two-day package is not twice the work of one day; it is closer to three times, once you count the edit.
2. Photo only, or photo and film
A cinematic wedding film is a separate craft from photography. It needs its own crew, its own gear, and weeks of editing, colour grading and sound work. Adding films to a photography package typically doubles the cost — and it is the single thing couples tell us they are most glad they did.
3. Team size
A 150-guest wedding at a farmhouse and a 800-guest wedding at a five-star hotel are not the same job. Larger venues need more photographers simply to be in more than one place at once. Any studio quoting you the same price regardless of guest count has not thought about your wedding yet.
4. What you actually receive
This is where quotes differ the most, and where couples get caught out. Ask every studio:
- How many edited photographs? (Not raw files — edited.)
- How many album sheets, and what quality of printing?
- Is a wedding film included, and how long?
- Are reels and a short promo included?
- How is everything delivered — USB, drive link, online gallery?
Two quotes that look ₹50,000 apart often turn out to be identical once you compare what is actually delivered.
5. Travel and destination
If your wedding is in Jim Corbett, Udaipur, Goa or Manali, travel and stay for the team is billed separately. That is standard across the industry. A studio that hides this in the base price is either padding your quote or planning to surprise you later.
6. Add-ons
Drone coverage, FPV drone, same-day edits, LED walls, additional albums for family — these are usually priced separately. Ask upfront which ones you want rather than discovering them on the invoice.
Why the same city has such a wide range
It comes down to three things that are hard to see in a price list.
Experience. A photographer who has shot 20 weddings and one who has shot 500 will both get through your day. The difference shows in the moments that happen once — your mother’s face during the vidaai, the two seconds before your brother starts crying. Experience is knowing where to stand before the moment happens.
Editing. Shooting is maybe forty percent of the work. The rest is selection, retouching and colour grading — and this is where a studio’s style actually lives. Cheaper packages are often cheaper because the edit is rushed or outsourced.
Reliability. Backup gear, backup drives, a second shooter who can step in, a studio that answers the phone eight months later when you want reprints. These cost money and you never see them on a quote — until the one time you need them.
How many weddings can one studio take?
This is a question almost nobody asks, and it matters more than most people realise.
Peak season in North India runs from October to February. A studio that books forty weddings in those five months is either running several crews of varying quality, or delivering your album in six months. We deliberately take on a limited number of weddings each year for exactly this reason — so that the team at your wedding is the team you met, and your film comes back in weeks rather than seasons.
When you compare quotes, ask how many weddings the studio shoots in a season. The answer tells you a lot.
What delivery timelines should look like
A fair quote also means fair timelines. Ours, from the date of the event:
- Raw photographs — within 7 days
- Edited photographs and reels — 15 to 30 days
- Wedding films — 30 to 60 days
- Cinematic documentary and full wedding film — 2 to 3 months
If a studio will not commit to timelines in writing, treat that as information.
Is the cheapest option ever the right one?
Honestly — sometimes, yes. If you are having a small court marriage and want fifty clean photographs to remember the day, you do not need a cinematic crew. Hire well within your budget and spend the difference on something else.
But if you are spending fifteen or twenty lakh on a wedding, consider what actually survives it. The flowers are gone by morning. The food is eaten. The clothes go into a cupboard. What is left, in ten years, is the photographs and the film — and that is the one part of the budget where saving forty thousand rupees tends to be the decision couples regret.
Questions worth asking any photographer
- Will the person I am speaking to actually be at my wedding?
- Can I see a full wedding, start to finish — not just the highlight reel?
- How many edited photographs will I receive?
- What is the advance, and is it refundable if plans change?
- How many weddings do you take in a season?
- What happens if someone on the team falls ill on my date?
